Disaster Occurs as Unintentional Detonation at Police Station in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Claims Nine Deaths

A catastrophic blast at a police station in the Kashmir region under Indian control has led to the fatalities of nine persons and harm to thirty-two additional people, according to official statements.

The event happened when a cache of confiscated explosives unintentionally detonated during processing activities.

The explosion occurred on the evening of Friday at the Nowgam security post, where detonation agents confiscated in the Faridabad area in the northern territory of Haryana were being held provisionally.

Area security director declared that the explosives were scheduled for scientific analysis when a "extremely tragic" mishap during processing resulted in their blast at approximately 11:20 PM local.

Official Statements

Police authorities asserted that this was an "unintentional explosion" and rather than a militant action. "Alternative theories regarding the cause of this occurrence is unnecessary," emphasized the law enforcement head during a journalist meeting.

The security post suffered significant harm from the blast, with adjacent buildings also being affected by the powerful blast.

Consequences and Fatalities

Several automobiles were "covered in blaze and reduced to charred husks, with wreckage spread across the site," according to authority statements.

"The intensity of the blast was such that some human remains were retrieved from close-by residences, approximately 100-200 meters distant the law enforcement facility," reported an authority informant.

The majority of the casualties were security officials, along with forensic personnel, two evidence documentation specialists, and a tailor who was accompanying the group.

The territory's Regional Leader stated sympathies and declared that an investigation had been ordered into the tragic incident.

"I have directed a investigation to ascertain the reason of the inadvertent detonation. Deeply anguished by the death of valuable individuals due to exceptionally devastating accidental blast at Nowgam police station in Srinagar city. My sympathies to the mourning loved ones. I hope for rapid recuperation of the injured," expressed the authority on online channels.
