Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to its rightful place, prove once more what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
