One of the original creators behind the well-known ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's has claimed that corporate owner the multinational conglomerate blocked the introduction for a new pro-Palestinian frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, who established the business with his partner, announced how he will personally create this new product as part of an individual series highlighting issues Ben & Jerry's was prevented from addressing publicly.

Longstanding Dispute Involving Founders versus Parent Company

This latest announcement deepens the ongoing conflict among the internationally recognized dessert company and its corporate parent, the British consumer goods giant that acquired Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

The co-founders maintain how the parent company along with its ice cream arm the Magnum brand improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's from "maintaining its activist principles".

Watermelon Sorbet as an Emblem for Support

The entrepreneur revealed via an Instagram video that he's developing an innovative watermelon-based frozen dessert, asking for public suggestions regarding naming options plus potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” Mr. Cohen declared in a cooking set. “I'm making a watermelon-flavored ice cream that calls for permanent peace in Palestine and calls for repairing the damage that was done there.”

This particular fruit has become an emblem for solidarity with the Palestinian people due to its coloration, which match those of Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement plus Current Developments

In 2021, Ben & Jerry's ceased sales of its products in areas occupied by Israel, resulting in the parent company selling the Israeli operation to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing ongoing distribution in disputed territories.

This upcoming dessert series is being developed under Ben's Best, the socially conscious ice cream brand that was first established several years back for endorsing former US presidential candidate Senator Sanders via the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Shifts plus Future Intentions

The founder indicated that he will create additional ice cream flavors focusing on issues which the company was silenced from speaking about openly due to corporate restrictions.

This development follows partner Jerry Greenfield stepped down from the company recently, after many years with the organization, citing worries that the company's autonomy was undermined following Unilever's decision to restrict their advocacy work.

Previously, Mr. Cohen stated how “My partner has a really big heart and this conflict with our parent company was breaking it."

"My heart leads me to keep working inside the company to fight for its independence ensuring that it can fulfill its ethical purpose, the values which it was founded on while upholding for decades," he told media outlets.
