Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Showdown Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first Fall Classic after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for everyone here, our city, our country," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation other than him with his post-season brilliance," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, are still the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Wilson stated "there's no question that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this game," he added.

Toronto's team secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
