World Series Final Game Draws 51M Audience Members In the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning matchup that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51M viewers in the US, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

International Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and the network’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
